Reasons why Laura and Lee are meant for each other - Updated Version:16th march 2007

(I once wrote these back in early 2006, I revised them a bit now hehe.)

1 Both their first names start with “L” ...
2 … as well as the word “Love” starts with an “L”! ;)
3 If Roslin is a Cylon, her plan must be love...
4 …if she isn’t there has to be a way to save her because nobody wants McDonnell to leave the show, so no reason to give up hope. (revised: they found a way in "Epiphanies")
5 In "Resurrection Ship 2" Apollo didn't want to live anymore, this decision could have been influenced by Roslin's fate (at that time she was about to die in the next few weeks).
6 Roslin/Adama and Apollo/Starbuck pairings are rather boring and lack a really special note, actually they are quite foreseeable and not risky at all.
7 In many desperate situations so far, Apollo has been at her side. (revised: since 2.5 this has changed, will it happen again? Will they come back?)
8 The fact from no7 and the way he behaves, makes him her knight in shining armour.
9 She believes in prophecies, etc...so she actually has to love the name “apollo” (it's all about myths).
10 Apollo is the god of healing (this has even been noted in the show, in “bastille day”), a mortal medical healer who was so successful that he was reputed to have the ability to bring the dead back to life … and who is sick at the moment? (revised: they already found a way to save her in "Epiphanies", I guess Apollo's prayers must have been the key to that ;), but even so the cancer unfortunately could come back, so good Apollo is still around :))
11. BSG wants to be more real, more open and different than other shows, this would be a real cult couple.
12 If we go with the theory that Apollo is a cylon, the God Apollo sometimes gave the gift of prophecy to mortals whom he loved, such as the Trojan princess Cassandra. So that mortal would be Roslin.
13 Even Zarek and his friend called Apollo “her young prince”.
14 She made him her military advisor. (revised: I don't know if he still is.)
15 After his adventures with Laura in season 2.0, Apollo was conspicously interested in Starbuck and Dee, like he had to put that repressed energy somewhere ;).
16 Apollo has always been in collison with his father … so why not fight over the same woman.
17 Starbuck quite certainly loves Apollo in a romantic way, but that’s the one guy she finally isn’t going to get. (revised: Starbuck died in "Maelstrom".)
18 Already in the pilot the creators had put Laura and Lee in a desperate situation together, can’t be accidentally.
19 They both look so great together!
20 Damnit ... and all that chemistry …!
21 A President and his advisor … there has always been some special energy in settings like this one, in a way even in American history ;)!
22 The first person she confided in (besides Billy) was Lee, by telling him about her disease.
23 Laura felt a little uncomfortable as Apollo appeared late at night at her quarters in “Bastille Day”, like this made her at least a little nervous.
24 Why putting two characters constantly together in all these situations when here is no intention behind it.
25 She watched him closely in “tigh me up tigh me down” after he had had his "problems" with Ellen.
26 "Resistance" … that short moment of delight as Laura made it to Lee … there were just all these people around them again so they had to let go ;).
27 Why is Apollo adding “But I didn't do it for you. I did it for... well, actually, I did it for... nothing, turns out.” in “Scattered". Because of the fact that he is saying he didn’t do it for her…means this thought has consequently crossed his mind before … so he probably did do it for her.
28 There has to be a reason why Starbuck can become really SERIOUSLY jealous.
29 Apollo is Laura's bodyguard ("Colonel Day" and well actually the whole time).
30 He broke her out of jail … if this has no underlying romantic issue, then I don’t know anymore.
31 The way she calls him “captain” from time to time, there is a nice ring to it and it always sounds like she is teasing him a little...and enjoying it. (revised: Lately she called him "Lee" in Bill's presence, but when he is with her she calls him "Major", strange woman ;).) 32 The creators always take there time for cult L/L moments like their goodbye in “Valley of Darkness": “Good luck, Captain. May the lords protect you” – “You, too.”. (revised: Not anymore...! Only thing left is to pray for their comeback ;)!)
33 He has always chosen her way, not the one of his father, that’s a fact, may the reasons for that be whatsoever.
34 He constantly risks his life for her.
35 Without wanting to sound cliché, but actually an older more mature woman seems to fit to Lee.
36 Galactica wants to be a a real and authentic drama as well as revolutionary sci-fi, so then it’s really time to put together a younger man with an older woman in a sci-fi drama.
37 Both characters are actually to die for in the series, so why not putting exactly these two together.
38 If both Apollo and Roslin are Cylons they are probably bound to each other as it seems ...
39 …and two machines in love with each other … would make some pretty scandal at the cylon parties, they didn't plan that … as well as an absolute tragic love story.
(revised: But unlikely at the moment, and Starbuck also seems to be a cylon.) 40 Both have that noble aura around each other ... so the two of them together would make an irresistible noble couple!
41 They could become a literal metaphor for "Power Couple" ... an expression that is already used on icons for them.
42 They are on a par. These are always the greatest relationships.
43 The laurel is the main holy plant of the god Apollo because of a tragic love affair, in which his love Daphne got transformed into a laurel tree. Apollo hugged the tree since he hadn't made love to her while she was still alive and from there on he swore that the laurel would be his holy tree and he would always wear a laurel wreath. The name "Laura" comes from latin and means (now hold yourself and don't fall from your chair) "laurel leaves". Not kidding! Can't be a coincidence!
44 In "Resurrection Ship 2" Lee was quite shocked (and speechless) as he found out that the assasination was also supported by the President, but he accepted it then. (revised: In the fandom it is commonly presumed that this was the reason for their split-up.)
45 Both died at almost the same time, Lee in "Resurrection Ship 2" and Laura right after that in "Epiphanies".
It is said that sometimes soulmates were about to die at almost the same time, but did survive.
46 Both hate licorice.
